Pawan Kalyan to introduce Varun Teja

Some time ago, veteran actor Naga babu has tried to introduce his son Varun Tej to film industry with a good film, but due to several reasons it didn't happens. Ever since, the father and son are trying to find a perfect story and director for the debut film. It is learnt Power star Pawan Kalyan, who also cares for family is sincerely involved in this job. Once they zero upon the story and director, successful producer Allu Aravind is there to produce the film under his successful banner Geeta Arts. Hope Mega family will soon comes out with their new hero

The revenge of Priyanka Chopra!

Priyanka Chopra and her alleged affair with Shah Rukh Khan had been the talk of the Tinsel Town for a long, long time. There were stories after stories, and each time Shah Rukh and Priyanka’s ‘friendship’ was painted in myriad hues. The fiasco reached a threatening crescendo – so much so, that wifey Gauri Khan had to put a noose around Shah Rukh’s neck and pull him away from Piggy Chops! And no, the quintessential wife didn’t stop merely at that. She made sure that the bone of contention in her marital life (read: Priyanka) was ostracized out and out.

And what ensued thereafter, was the inevitable. The husband went that extra mile to prove his loyalty to his wife, and the King treated Priyanka in an unbelievable way. Chopra, who was once seen by Shah Rukh’s side on every single social gathering, received the cold shoulder from Shah Rukh. In the most extreme sense conceivable. Of course, the act of ignoring her didn’t go down well with Priyanka. And thus began her crawl up the ladder of recognition.

Once she was roped in for ‘Krrish 3’, Priyanka cleverly manoeuvred her way. She got back into the limelight, and was seen working hard for the film – there was her first success. She had managed to redeem herself in the eyes of Hrithik Roshan. Thereafter, one by one she made peace with the people Shah Rukh is known to be at loggerheads with – yes, beginning with Salman Khan. At Riteish Deshmukh’s birthday party, Priyanka was seen hugging Salman. After Salman, it was the turn to win over the other Khan – Aamir. Priyanka, this time too, had Lady Luck by her side. She dropped in on Aamir on the sets of an ad film shoot, and surprised the actor. And before long, the two were seen in an animated tete-a-tete over tea.

Priyanka, no doubt, has proved her mettle. Both as an actor and as a peacemaker. What remains to be seen is the look on Shah Rukh’s face and the feelings in his heart when he finds out what his ex-‘good friend’ has been up to. Shock or surprise, we leave it to the actor to decide!

After 100 centuries, Sachin in Bollywood!

It's just been a fortnight when the entire country swayed to the tunes of Sachin Tendulkar’s bat as he scored his much-awaited 100th ODI century against Bangladesh. And amidst speculations of whether the cricketer will retire or not, the fresh piece of news that we have on him is sure to set many eyes popping out with surprise. Tendulkar might just leave his bat and take up a position in front of directors’ cameras!

Do not unleash your horses yet. ‘Ton’dulkar might be seen in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’ – the movie which has already created a stir in the country, what with Vidya Balan doing an ‘aesthetic’ item number and Sharman Joshi delivering his brilliant performance. Add to that the God of Cricket. Seems like Vidhu Vinod Chopra is leaving no stone unturned in making sure that his venture turns out to be a smashing hit!

In ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’, the Little Master has apparently been roped in for a cameo. But from the way speculations are doing the rounds of the industry, we might just be able to see Tendulkar in a longer and more important role than just an insipid cameo. The grapevine is churning out observations that Sachin’s big break in Bollywood will happen – courtesy ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’. No, we just can’t wait to see Tendulkar swinging his bat to the rhythm of a Bollywood song. And we’re sure none of you can, either!

Aishwarya was the first choice for `Parineeta`

Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra was keen on casting Aishwarya Rai for the role of Lalita in `Parineta` as he was not sure of the acting abilities of the then newcomer Vidya Balan. Vidya made her debut in Bollywood with 2005 hit `Parineeta`, a musical produced by Chopra.

"When we thought of `Parineeta`, I immediately thought of a face like Aishwarya Rai. The character of the girl is like two men fall in love with her...so the heroine has to be bigger. But Pradeep Sarkar (director) told me about her (Vidya) I was like let me see what she can do," Chopra told reporters here, last night.

"But then we tested and tried her (Vidya) and she cleared it," he said.

`Parineeta` was adapted from 1914 Bengali novella of the same name by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. The film starred Vidya, Saif Ali Khan and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. Talking about other roles -- Shekar that was essayed by Saif Ali Khan and Girish, played by Sanjay Dutt, Chopra said, "I had called up Sanjay saying there is a role for you in my film and he agreed. We wanted the character of Girish (Sanjay) to be bigger than Shekar (Saif Ali Khan)."

Also, Rekha, a yesteryear actress had a cameo performance in a night club as a singer in this film.

Saif, Kareena to tie the knot next year!

With Agent Vinod out and Kareena's films scheduled to wrap up by December, the couple prepare to wed in the last week of Jan

The most eagerly awaited Bollywood event in recent times has surely been the big Pataudi-Kapoor wedding. The question had never been 'will they or won't they' but rather 'When will Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan tie the knot?' And though both the actors have remained tight lipped, speculations have refused to die down.

While many predicted a 2012 wedding, soon after the release of Agent Vinod, Mumbai Mirror has learnt that the couple will finally get married early next year.

A source close to the couple told Mirror, "Saif and Kareena have decided to tie the knot early next year. It would either be January 2013 or early February. The venue and the functions are to be finalised."

In fact, the couple has decided to hold the wedding as soon as they finish shooting for their current projects. Kareena, who starts work on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film with Ranveer Singh on July 21, will get free by the end of this year. The details of the grand shaadi will be worked out then.

Earlier this year, Saif had said, "Marriage is a question that I won't answer until I am done with the release of Agent Vinod." It seems, he is still not in the mood to talk. He chose not to revert when asked. Kareena too was evasive. Guess a big announcement is on its way...

Aaradhya Bachchan’s first trip abroad

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan makes a two-day trip to Dubai with her baby girl

Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's daughter, Aaradhya, left for her first trip abroad yesterday. Previously, she had taken her first flight - to Goa in February - with her parents for a three-day holiday.

Last morning, Ash left for the Dubai World Cup along with her baby girl. Says a source, "Ash has gone there for a brand event, which will take place at the Dubai World Cup, one of the fanciest horse race events in the world. Unfortunately, Abhishek wasn't able to accompany them due to work commitments in Mumbai. So Ash and the baby took the flight along with her mother Vrinda, the baby's nanny and her PR manager."

They will be staying at a luxury hotel in Dubai. Adds an insider, "The brand people have booked a private suite for Ash and her entourage. When she is at the event, the baby will be looked after by her grandmother and nanny. It was a commitment made by Ash a while ago, so she didn't want to back out."

According to the source, though the logistics of the trip were a nightmare with a baby on board, Ash couldn't bear to leave her behind. "Also, she is still nursing Aaradhya, who is nearly five months old. The trip was planned well in advance to get the baby's passport in order. Since this is the first time Aaradhya is travelling abroad, all necessary precautions have also been taken. They will return on Sunday."

3D Sholay to release on Aug 15

Quite a lot was said about the making of the 3D version of " Sholay". The latest doing the rounds is that the 3D movie will be released on August 15.

Confirming the news, Shaan Uttam Singh, the grandson of GP Sippy and one of copyright owners of movie, says, "We are coming up with the 3D version of "Sholay". The project is almost complete and will release on August 15. The movie is a classic and people will love to watch it with the technological augmentation."

Some months back, there were reports on how Mukta Arts which had been working with Ketan Mehta's Maya Digital on turning this project into a reality, had washed its hands off the project because of the legal hassles that the Sippy family had been currently embroiled in.

Says Jayanti Lal Gada, CMD at Pen India Private Ltd, the 3D house now involved in making of this version of the movie, "We are planning to release the movie on Aug 15 because it was released on the same day in 1975. The idea of the 3D version came from copyright owners of the movie. I believe, it is the best movie to augment with special effects. After 20 years of its release when the movie was first screened on DD national, it registered a TRP of 65. That is the highest TRP of any movie showcased on Indian television. We hope, people will like its 3D form as well."

Hrithik Roshan turns Vivek Oberoi's gym instructor?

They might be playing enemies on screen. But Hrithik Roshan and Vivek Oberoi seem to be becoming the best of buddies off screen.

Hrithik takes his superhero legacy forward in Krrish 3 and Vivek Oberoi gets to play the super-villain. The duo has been shooting for the film in Ramoji Studios in Hyderabad extensively. It was during this schedule that Hrithik's fitness regime rubbed on to Vivek Oberoi as well.

Unit-hands reveal that the duo has been hitting the gym simultaneously. It seems like Vivek was so impressed with Hrithik's Greek-god looks that he sought his guidance and Hrithik was only happy to help. Apparently Hrithik designed a proper diet and exercise plan for Vivek Oberoi and guided him in gym training too.

So if you see that the villain of Krrish 3 has an as much perfect physique like the hero, you know who to give the credit to!

Agent Vinod collects Rs 30 crores

Despite being the biggest opening for a solo Saif Ali Khan starrer, 'Agent Vinod' will have to hugely depend on non-theatrical revenues to break even.

Saif Ali Khan's much ambitious mega-budgeted solo-starrer Agent Vinod released last Friday. The response was pretty mixed with many shunning the espionage thriller for lack of an interesting storyline. The film might be slick and stylish but was low on substance.

At the box-office, the film started on a slow note but business picked up slightly over the weekend because there was no other opposition or option for cine-goers. The first weekend collection is around Rs 30 crores which is the biggest opening for a solo Saif Ali Khan starrer. Also Agent Vinod boasts as the second biggest opening of 2012 (after Agneepath).

However with the film budgeted at more than Rs 60 crores, it needs to be seen if it would be able to recover the heavy costs. It will have to hugely depend on its non-theatrical revenues for recovery. The business is decent only in urban centers and multiplexes. Otherwise it's below average everywhere.

The coming Friday sees two modest releases. The first is Vishesh Films' Blood Money starring Kunal Khemu and Amrita Puri (last seen in Aisha). It needs to be seen whether Kunal Khemu will be accepted as the solo lead hero in this Bhatt production. The second film is a comedy titled Bumboo and stars Kavin Dave, Sanjay Mishra, Sharat Saxena and the likes. This one is heavily banking on its content and comic value, in absence of big stars.

I want Madhubala's films, Madhuri's talent: Dia

Legendary actress Madhubala and dancing diva Madhuri Dixit are among the names that come to Dia Mirza's mind upon the mention of Bollywood's most iconic women.

"Madhubala, Madhuri Dixit, Manisha Koirala, Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen... these are among the most iconic women I can think of in Bollywood," Dia said here while unveiling the top 10 iconic bestsellers of beauty brand The Body Shop.

If Dia was to grab one aspect of each of their lives, what would that be?

"It has to be Madhubala's films, Madhuri's talent! Manisha was one of the few naturally beautiful actresses when she came into the industry, and Aishwarya, I admire for everything... just for the fact that she is truly a global ambassador of India," she added.

Looking princess-like in a simple, peach-coloured dress, Dia was asked her beauty secret.

"I think beauty is in one's character," she said.

The former Miss Asia Pacific started her Bollywood career with "Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein" in 2001, following which she has featured in over 30 titles so far.

Last year she turned producer with "Love Breakups Zindagi", which was her last film as an actor as well.

As of now, she is enjoying the relaxed pace of her work.

"You arrive at a stage in life when you want peace, you don't want to rush after things... so it's just that for me. It's time to reinvent myself, do new things, move forward and widen my horizons," she said.

Dia is reportedly set to tie the knot with her beau, director Sahil Sangha, this year.

Will Priyanka play Jaya Bachchan’s role in Zanjeer?

After Deepika declined the role she was offered in Apoorva Lakhia's Zanjeer-remake, the opportunity has landed itself in Priyanka Chopra's lap. If the actress agrees to do it, she will romance Ram Charan Teja who plays the lead role in this film.

Apoorva Lakhia's Zanjeer remake is touted to be one of the bigger budget films of the year. It stars southern actor Ram Charan Teja as the 'angry young man', a memorable role essayed by Amitabh Bachchan in the original. There's no doubt then that Apporva is looking for an equally established actress to play Jaya Bachhcan's role.

Reportedly, Deepika was approached for the film but the actress refused it by citing date issues. it looks like Deepika's loss may now be Priyanka's gain.

Ram Charan has a grand fan following in the South but is new in Bollywood, and his first Hindi film needs a big bankable actress who can draw in the audience. Though Priyanka hasn't yet given her nod the makers are quite positive about her inclusion in the cast.

Zanjeer will be made in Hindi and Telugu simultaneously

Much awaited ‘3’ to release today!

Dhanush and Shruti Haasan starrer ‘3’ is finally releasing this Friday. The much awaited film has been directed by debutant director Aishwarya who is Dahnush’s wife and superstar Rajinikanth’s daughter.

An excited Dhanush tweeted earlier in the day, “And the film that made all the difference releases today ! Hope you guys like the film.waiting every second 4 ur feedbacks. God bless(sic).”

The film has been news ever since one of its tracks ‘Why This Kolaveri Di?’ was leaked online. The song became a national sensation and catapulted Dhanush to superstardom. Till ‘Kolaveri’ Dhanush was popular name down south. Post the success of the song, Dhanush became an household name across the nation.

Wife and first time director Aishwarya was a bundle of nerves when she tweeted, “ Just collected the 1st city print of "3" from the lab as a distributor :) emotions racing..off to the temple now..prayers now !(sic).”

Ever since its release, the Kolaveri Dio video on Youtube has got 5 million views. Composed by young music director Anirudh Ravichander, the song had 19,000 "likes" in less than a week.

The film is being dubbed in other languages including hindi so that it reaches out to a wider audience. So, will the film be as successful as the song? Guess we will have to wait and watch.

Review: ‘Blood Money’ is insipid, absurd!

If the similarity in the name of the movie is able to resurrect images from Edward Zwick’s masterpiece ‘Blood Diamond’, you’d better stash those in some remote corner of your mind while watching ‘Blood Money’. ‘Blood Money’ is no ‘Blood Diamond’, and Kunal Khemu is no Leonardo DiCaprio despite the heavy resonances in the name and the theme of the two films. Whereas the latter was lauded as a brilliant movie of our times, the former will sink into some deep abyss of oblivion. Amen.

Cut to the story. Set in the contemporary South Africa, the diamond hub of the world, the film tries to usher relevance to the story with the setting. What it ends up as, is a dismal disappointment. Given the absolute absence of details and sharpness, the backdrop of South Africa hardly helps in exonerating the movie. For a film which attempts to delve into the darker recesses of the diamond industry, ‘Blood Money’ turns out to be exceptionally flimsy and shallow.

A newly-married couple, Kunal (Kunal Khemu) and Arzoo (Amrita Puri), move to Cape Town with dreams in their eyes and love in their hearts. Their starry-eyed wishes are fulfilled with the pace of a hurricane as soon as Kunal joins a diamond exports firm. And in case you are deceived by the extraordinarily ordinary reception that Khemu receives at work, review your thoughts. This is the man who has been awarded a sprawling, lavish bungalow the moment he joins work. No room for speculations here. We are treading on the grounds of the absurd.

Amrita Puri, whose funny role in ‘Aisha’ had been appreciated by people, has failed to emerge out of that cocoon. Puri speaks in the same way as her debut film, and leaves us to wonder whether she is the same behind cameras as well. Kunal Khemu’s tryst with acting might find a better viaduct somewhere else, not in ‘Blood Money’. And as far as his bootylicious co-worker Mia is concerned, she seems to have been incorporated into the movie solely for the purpose of titillating your fantasies. She sheds her clothes with amazing alacrity and leaves no stone unturned in seducing your faculties of reason and logic. So that after a point, you no longer care what the outcome of the apparently grisly tale of blood and money turns out to be.

The lackluster performances of the entire cast leave you gaping at the mindlessness of the film. And the fact that the songs do nothing to stamp their presence on your mind, don’t help either. Watch ‘Blood Money’ if you have absolutely nothing to do this weekend. Else invest your time in something more meaningful!

We told you few days back that SRK will re unite with his friend turned foe turned friend Farah Khan for "Happy New Year".

DHOOM 3 To Go On Floor As Per Schedule In May

We reported yesterday that "DHOOM 3" is postponed due to Aamir's busy schedule but Yash Raj Film has denied the report and issued official statement in this regard.

YRF has categorically stated that this is absolutely baseless. "Dhoom 3" starts shooting in May 2012 and Aamir Khan joins the schedule in June as per plan. Produced by Aditya Chopra, "Dhoom 3" is written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, who had also written "Dhoom" and "Dhoom 2".

SRK, Kareena, Priyanka part of literacy mission

Several leading Bollywood actors including Shahrukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra would now be reaching out to people with their message of education to all.

The National Literacy Mission Authority today launched a music video for its literacy anthem titled 'Shiksha ka Suraj' which apart from these actors also features veteran actress Shabana Azmi and film-maker Farhan Akhtar.

The video was unveiled by E Ahamed, the Minister of State in the Human Resource Ministry. Among those present on the occasion was Javed Akhtar, who had penned the lyrics for the Literacy anthem.

Addressing the audience, Akhtar said that all the actors who feature in the song video had decided to do it for free. The song has been sung by Bollywood playback singers Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik.

"During the last decade the literacy rate has improved from 64. 84 per cent to 74.04 per cent which indicates an increase of 9.2 percent," the minister said,

Ahamed also said that literacy and education were engines which were driving the country's growth. He said that the central government's initiatives had resulted in the increase in literacy levels.

Ahamed also congratulated the National Literacy Mission Authority (NLMA) for having successfully conducted a national mobilisation campaign under the name " Sakshar Bharat Yatra".

As part of this campaign, the NLMA had through an NGO Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti (BGVS) sent five groups which travelled all across the country spreading awareness through songs, plays and mass contact in thousands of villages and towns.

'Agent Vinod' collects Rs.10 crore on opening day

Saif Ali Khan's home production Agent Vinod has earned Rs10 crore on the first day, and is the actor's biggest solo opening so far.

Made at a budget of Rs 50 crore, the film has been shot in Morocco, Russia and Latvia.

"Saif Ali Khan has grown as an actor and also grown as a box-office power. The number of screens first decide the craze for the film and the first day business is an indicator of its strength at the box office," said trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

"The massive figures only go to show that Saif has a rare combination of talent and box office pull," added Adarsh.

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the spy thriller also features Kareena Kapoor, Prem Chopra and Ram Kapoor. While it is produced under Saif's Illuminati Films banner, Eros International has distributed it.

Saif says it was the best time to release a film like Agent Vinod.

“The concept should appeal to people... it's got an exciting plot... The style, the narrative - the strength of the story and its Tin Tin qualities is the USP of Agent Vinod. Times have changed and so have our movies. This is the right time for Agent Vinod," said Saif, who feels he has challenged himself with a film like this.

“I have challenged myself physically in roles before. One such role was of Langda Tyagi in Omkara. In Agent Vinod, I had to be fit, very fit. I had to train hard. It was a gruelling schedule to do action. It is very demanding. I have a lot of respect for action heroes because I've got to know what it takes to be one,” he added.

The theatre owners are happy with the first day response to the film and hope that it will sustain in the coming weeks.

Match fixing accused Nupur claims to have ‘dated’ Dilshan!

There is a new twist in the latest match fixing scandal involving Bollywood starlet Nupur Mehta. Nupur, who had earlier denied having contact with players, made a shocking revelation that she has dated Sri Lankan cricketer Dilshan Tilakratne in the past.

Oblivious of the repercussions her statement can cause, Nupur went on delving more about her relationship with Dilshan whom she met during T20 World Cup 2009 in England.

According to the reports, during the T20 tournament she was put up at a hotel with a businessman who could have been a bookie.

“I was living at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington around the time but I wasn`t sharing a room with anyone. I stayed at the hotel for a few days and paid my own bill at the rate of £500 per day. I have bills to prove my claim,` Nupur said.

“All I knew is that several cricketers were living in the same hotel but I did not know who they were. There was no way for me to know even if Sachin Tendulkar was living in the room next to mine,” she claimed.

Prodded more, Nupur categorically refused to take names. `I can mention Dilshan`s name because I was seeing him at the time. Why should I drag the names of other cricketers in the whole issue? I had just met them socially.”

She said, “What’s wrong in knowing a cricketer! That is my personal life and my relationship cannot be made the basis of such a big allegation. I am a single, attractive girl and have the liberty to move around in any part of the world and interact with whoever I want to.”

A few days ago, a London daily accused Nupur Mehta of being used by bookies to "lure" cricketers. The girl vehemently had refused all such claims by the tabloid and planned to even sue them for defaming her. Nupur seems evidently unafraid of being sued over the claim that she was dating Dilshan who also happens to be a married man.

Fans will love watching Kareena in `Agent Vinod`: Saif

Saif Ali Khan says audiences should not come to see a real life couple together on-screen, but two actors in a film. He feels that fans are going to love his actress girlfriend Kareena Kapoor in `Agent Vinod` as she has come out of her comfort zone to work in the spy thriller.

Saif is happy that he pulled out Kareena out of her comfort zone in `Agent Vinod`.

"What`s interesting for me is to take an artist like her out of her comfort zone. She naturally prefers to do love stories and the kind of characters that she has played - like Geet and like the recent one with Imran Khan," said Saif who is expected to marry Kareean by the end of this year.

"But to take her to action-adventure and a slightly edgy space the way Sriram Raghavan has presented her...I think it`s a great fun for her fans and for us to watch because it`s a different space and I think she has got a lot of screen presence. When you put her in a space like this, I think it`s fun and different. So, it`s a nice change," he added.

This is Saif and Kareena`s third film together after "Tashan" and "Kurbaan" and none of them did well at the box office.

"People should never come to watch off screen couples on-screen. People should come to see two actors on screen. They should come to see a director`s film, they should come and watch the movie. What`s happening behind the camera is suppose to be by the way," the 41-year-old said here in an interview.

"The problem is that what`s happening behind the scene comes on the foreground and becomes more important than anything else. Then people`s expectations change and that overshadows everything, which is why we thought it would be sensible to promote the film separately as actors," he added.

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, `Agent Vinod` also stars Ram Kapoor, Shahbaz Khan, Prem Chopra among others and hits theatres Friday.

Vidya’s love for Bengali is courtesy beau Siddharth

We all know that Vidya Balan loves all things Bengali. From food, to the culture, to its people and even the city Kolkata, Vidya calls herself a ‘wannabong’

So far we have credited her love for everything Bengali to her debut film ‘Bhalo Theko’ and her recent blockbuster ‘Kahaani’. But it appears there are other reasons as well.

Vidya’s fondness for Bengalis can also be credited to beau Siddharth Roy Kapoor. Kapoor who is half-bong apparently is connected with Vidya because of the fluency in the language.

The much in love couple converse only in Bengali most of the time.

Speaking to a daily, a source said, "Vidya has always said that she feels she was a Bengali in her past life. Her affection for the language and the culture isn`t hidden. So it`s obvious that she would talk in Bengali whenever she gets a chance and it helps that Siddharth speaks the same language too."

Interestingly, when Siddharth used to visit his lady love on the sets of ‘the Dirty Picture’, they used to converse in Bengali only which made it difficult for everyone around them to comprehend what they were saying.

"They even exchange a lot of Bengali music and poetry since Vidya is very interested in Kolkata`s art and culture. It`s also one of the reasons they get along so well," added another source.

Does that mean Vidya would take up some film projects in the east as well? Only time will tell.

Shah Rukh to play Jawarharlal Nehru?

India has often attracted foreign filmmakers to embark upon a journey on celluloid and recreate life of eminent personalities on screen. Oscar nominated filmmaker Bruce Beresford, who is currently in India, is planning to make a film on former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

According to a leading daily, the filmmaker attended a special party organized in his honour by renowned dentist Dr Pradhan.

Beresford’s team used sophisticated technology to superimpose faces of Bollywood and Hollywood actors on to the characters in the film to get a better understanding of who would best suit the roles.

And one man from B-Town who featured in the list was Shah Rukh Khan.

SRK as Pandit Nehru? It looks a safe bet. What say?

Who`s afraid of IPL? Not Hindi TV channels

Hindi television channels have geared up with new big ticket shows during the fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), displaying no fear of losing their loyal audience to cricket.

Starting March 31, Star Plus is coming up with a new singing reality show `Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar 2`, to be judged by Shaan and Shantanu Moitra and hosted by Mandira Bedi.

Sab TV has recently brought a new season of the popular "Movers & Shakers" with Shekhar Suman back to the telly world after 11 years.

Zee TV is set to launch the kids` reality show `Dance India Dance Li`l Masters 2` and fiction show `Phir Subah Hogi`, while Colors too has two new shows on board -- a social thriller "Chhal - Sheh Aur Maat", which went on air Monday, and "Kairi - Rishta Khatta Meetha", which will be telecast starting April.

The channels feel their core audience will remain unaffected during IPL, which will kickstart in April on Set MAX.

"We reckon there is a loyal audience for cricket just as for entertainment channels and don`t see a huge overlap of the two. Moreover, if the content and concept of a show are strong, the audiences will continue to watch their favourite shows over IPL," Prashaant Bhatt, head of fiction, Colors, told reporters.

New shows are still being launched to grab eyeballs, but Bhatt argues: "We don`t plan to launch a show or postpone the launch because of IPL. Our programming line-up and launch plans are thought through months in advance keeping in mind the audience viewing preferences and content requirements of the channel.

"A lot of research goes into the decision of when is the right time to launch a particular show. With `Kairi`, it was just the right time to launch a new show as part of our new programme lineup."

He has the same opinion about including high points in on-going shows.

"High points are planned as per the story`s progression and not merely to grab eyeballs. If the story demands a high point during IPL, we will go ahead and execute it," said Bhatt.

According to Ajay Bhalwankar, programming head, Zee TV, IPL is usual competition.

"We had launched a big show like `Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo` during a previous season of IPL and the show was appreciated by the audience.

"So this year, we are launching two major shows - `Dance India Dance L`il Masters 2` in the non-fiction segment and `Phir Subah Hogi` in the fiction space as we believe good content will always be a winner," said Bhalwankar.

Danish Khan, marketing head, Sony Entertainment Television, says there are no immediate plans to launch new shows, and since "IPL will be on air on a sister channel", there is no such concern.

Meanwhile, Set MAX has big plans to market the IPL. The channel has rolled out a special communication campaign -- "Aisa Mauka Aur Kahan Milega" to get maximum viewership this season.

The fifth season of IPL will feature 76 matches over a period of 54 days in the months of April and May. Nine teams are participating in the cricket league and, of course, the channel is expecting good ratings.

"With this campaign, we want to bring alive the obsession and passion of IPL, which brings people together across the country with their friends and families, to enjoy the biggest extravaganza on Indian television. We look forward to yet another record-breaking edition of the DLF IPL this year," said Gaurav Seth, senior vice president (Marketing and Communications), MAX.

Anushka Sharma dating cricketer Suresh Raina?

Cricket and Bollywood have always had a long standing association in India. And romance between a Bollywood actress and Indian cricketer is also not new. The latest to join this league is Anushka Sharma and Suresh Raina.

The duo first met in London few months back where Anushka was shooting and Suresh was touring England with the Indian team. And ever since their first meeting, the two have kept in touch and try to ‘hang out’ when time permits. While it is too early to call them a couple, friends of the two say that they share good chemistry and like each other’s company.

Anushka, who as earlier seeing fellow actor Ranveer Singh, was linked to Shahid Kapoor in the middle. But Shahid finding comforts in the arms of a certain Ms Fakhri, Anushka is single again and perhaps ready to mingle. Suresh has had his own share of link ups as well and was earlier linked to the daughter of a union minister.

With the IPL round the corner, it would be interesting to see if Anushka turns up to cheer her good friend Suresh. And maybe then we all can get a clear picture about their relationship.

After all, IPL in the past has been the ground for confirmation of many of the relationships-be it Deepika and Sidhartha’s or Liz Hurley and Shane Warne’s. So it would be interesting to see if Anushka makes an appearance in any of the matches.

After sweeping awards with ZNMD and earning huge sums from "DON 2", Excel Entertainment is back with new series of releases.

Contrary to rumours, all is well at Excel Entertainment between Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. Besides, this there is also a story idea given by Abhinay Deo of "Delhi Belly" fame which has got Farhan and Ritesh's approval. Apparently, this film, which is about two buddies, will have two stars in the lead.

Last but not the least is a script by a new writer-director which has been approved. However, Farhan and Ritesh are keeping the new guy under wraps and plan to make an official announcement soon.

Saif fulfills Kareena's demand for a pet

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan have got themselves a pet dog - a Jack Russell terrier. Bebo wanted a pet and her nawab saab finally fulfilled her wish.

Saif has become devoted to the dog (Elvis) and Bebo has been complaining to friends about how Saif takes Elvis everywhere with him, even though the vet has strictly advised not to take the puppy outdoors till he's been vaccinated!

Meanwhile there are reports that the Saif-Kareena starrer Agent Vinod has been banned in Pakistan, according to a notice posted in a multiplex there.

Why should Sachin Tendulkar retire: Lata Mangeshkar

Lata Mageshkar is jubilant about Sachin Tendulkar scoring his 100th Test ton but is unhappy about suggestions that he retire from the game.

"Why do we this to the best of our artistes and sportspersons," Lata asked angrily.

"Why do we place so much performance anxiety on them? People think it's been smooth-sailing all the way for me. But I've gone through a rough patch in my career. There was a time when I was ready to quit. I fought back. And so did Sachin," said added.

Sachin scored his 100th ton in Dhaka Friday and Lata derided the pressure that was put on him to achieve the mark.

"It was as if the other 99 hundred runs ceased to matter. I have to say, we as a nation do not respect our greatest treasures. Sachin was going through a rough patch.

"Fortunately, he never gave in to the pressure to score. He continued to go out there and play because he loves the game. I understand that. I too never did what I do because I had to perform. I sang without thinking of how well it would turn out," she said.

"Sadly we steal our sportspersons' confidence by demanding too much from them," she added.

Ever since Sachin has created the new record, a large segment of poeple including Kapil Dev who led India to its victory in the 1983 World Cup, wants him to take retirment.

But Lata flares up at the mention of retirement for Sachin.

"Why should he retire? Who decides to retire a singer or a sportsperson? Sachin will retire when he wants to."

About the clinching the game Friday, Lata said: "I had a preominition that this could be it. I somehow saw the century coming. I wasn't surprised when it happened."

Reminiscing about her long association with Sachin, she added: "I first saw him play at Sharjah. I remember a sandstorm hit the stadium. But Sachin stood his ground. He sat there with his cricket togs on waiting for the storm to pass. In him, I saw the determination to excel that I always admire. I remember a few years ago on Sachin's birthday on April 24 I was invited to his friend Raj Thackeray's home to meet him. I had taken a figurine of Sai Baba because I got to know Sachin is a Sai bhakt."

A huge cricket fan Lataji's love for the game goes back to her childhood.

"My father Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar was a cricket fan. I guess I inherited his love for the game. I remember I watched my first live cricket match at the Brabourne Stadium when I was 15. I sat in the the cheapest stalls with a family friend and clapped like crazy.

"Later many of the cricketers like Veenu Mankad, Vijay Hazare and Sunil Gavaskar were family friends. They'd come home for meals. Once just before a big match, I had invited the Indian cricket team home. I had made gajar ka halwa for them. After they won the match, Dilip Vengsarkar came to my building on Peddar Road and shouted up to my flat that the gajar ka hawla had worked."

Lata is very fond of many cricketers "specially Sunil Gavasakar and Sachin".

"Among the international cricketers Gary Sobers was always my favourite. He would be so confident about his performance that he'd be making plans for after the match even before playing," she added.

Sonakshi is a good dancer; Sonam is bad

Dance is an important element of Hindi cinema. Some actors have rhythm in their step while others have to work really hard to get it right.

Choreographer Saroj Khan has been making actors dance to her tune for the last 50 years, and has choreographed the best and worst dancers of the industry. For instance, she says Madhuri Dixit is one of the best dancers she has worked with while Sonam Kapoor is one of the worst!

In this interview with Patcy N, Khan  rates the top actors and actresses, and reveals their dance secrets.

Mallika Sherawat

I don't think there is any dance in (Mallika's item number in Double Dhamaal) Jalebi Bai. The poor thing is just shaking her waist in circular movements! After that, she's running from one corner to another. There's no dance.

Playing Dawood was tough for Sonu Sood

Actor Sonu Sood, who essays the role of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in "Shootout at Wadala", says doing so was a huge burden for him.

"We talk about power. I remember watching his images in the stadium during cricket matches. In fact, now that you are playing the same character, you feel a heavy burden on your shoulders as you are playing such an important role and it's such an important film. So, I have to be very right," Sonu at the red carpet of "Shootout at Wadala".

To prepare for his role, Sonu visited those bylanes of Mumbai that are known for underworld activities, but he is not afraid.

"I don't think it was tough to enter such areas. I remember during my struggling days, I had friends who used to hangout in such places. Even I have been to such places. Now that I am working on this character, I would be more curious to know about it and I hope I get some good inputs."

Sonu will also be seen in "Maximum" in which he plays the role of a young cop. It is releasing April 13.

Vidya's 'Kahaani' hit among online gamers

After getting positive reviews from critics and audiences, Vidya Balan's "Kahaani" has now become a huge hit among online gamers. It got 50,000 hits within the first 10 days of its launch.

"The Great Indian Parking Wars" requires gamers to park Vidya's taxi on a friend's street to help her in the journey to find her missing husband. Gamers can play the game at ibibo.com and can get in touch with Vidya through her gaming profile on the website.

"It's amazing to see the kind of popularity Ibibo has developed about the film on social media," said the actress about the association with ibibo.com.

Gamers, who help Vidya by parking her yellow taxi inside the game, also get a chance to meet her as well as an opportunity to win movie merchandise and tickets.

Disney incurs 200-million-dollar loss on John Carter's opening weekend

John Carter has caused Disney a 200-million-dollar loss in its opening weekend, the studio announced.

The big-screen adaptation of Edgar Rice Burrough’s 1912 ‘A Princess of Mars’ — written before the author even dreamed up ‘Tarzan’ — earned just $30.6 million in its debut weekend earlier this month.

However, the film had a reported 250-million-dollar budget because of its eye-popping special effects.

“Movie making does not come without risk. It’s still an art, not a science, and there is no proven formula for success,” the New York Daily News quoted Walt Disney Studios Chairman Rich Ross as saying in a statement.

“[Director] Andrew Stanton is an incredibly talented and successful filmmaker who with his team put their hard work and vision into the making of John Carter.

“Unfortunately, it failed to connect with audiences as much as we had all hoped,” he said.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, that failure will cost the studio an operating loss of between $80 million and $120 million for the second quarter of 2012.

Though many sci-fi movies, including Star Wars and Avatar were inspired by John Carter, the property had little built-in recognition for mainstream audiences, which made for an uphill battle in a crowded year at the multiplex.

“It was a darn expensive movie, and you have to be extremely lucky to earn your money back (in those cases),” Paul Dergarabedian, box office analyst for Hollywood.com, said.

“There are very few movies that make half a billion worldwide, it’s a tremendous risk because the odds are stacked against you,” he added.

Fortunately for Disney, the studio is in good position to rebound with The Avengers opening May 4.

Shah Rukh Khan wants to come back

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is currently shooting in London for his upcoming film is apparently all set to come back home by the end of this month. A source says that SRK is missing ghar ka khana the most but that is not the only reason he is excited to be back.

“Shah Rukh was in London for quite some time because of the extensive shooting schedule, which is due to wrap up by this month end. But he also wants to come back so that he is on time to prep up his cricket team for the upcoming matches. SRK likes to be involved with his team members so he wants to be there for them and not miss out on it for anything,” informs the source. Well, no matter what the reason is, it’s always nice to see the dimpled star on home turf.

Ram Gopal Verma begins film on 26/11!

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma is back. But this time it’s not with just any remake of his horror flicks or cult classics. he is working on a project that he claims is very special for him. Ramu has apparently started shooting for his film based on the 26/11 terror attacks that rattled Mumbai a few years back. Ramu was one of the first few people to be at the Taj Hotel post the attacks.

Accompanying Maharashtra’s then Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and his son, actor Riteish Deshmukh, he was apparently seen making notes of all the details.

A source says, “Footage of the CM, Riteish and Ramu doing the rounds of the hotel received a lot of flak and was called insensitive by many. However, now, Ramu is ready to shoot the film. The film, says sources will have a whole new star cast as Ramu does not want the actors to take away the attention from the real hero of the film — the real story. He has apparently been researching the topic ever since the attacks took place, viewing all the available footage of the time when Mumbai was under siege. Though rumours had suggested that Riteish was doing a part in the film, sources insist that he was never approached for it at all!’’

Vidya’s ‘Kahaani’ forces Aamir to re-shoot ‘Talaash’

The ‘perfectionist’ lives up to his name. Contrary to reports that release of Aamir Khan’s much awaited ‘Talaash’ was extended because the actor wanted to first wrap up his TV project, it has now been revealed that the date push was just an eye-wash.

Apparently, Aamir Khan was not really happy with the climax of ‘Talaash’ and he has planned to re-shoot the climax all over again.

As a matter of fact, Vidya Balan’s ‘Kahaani’ seems to have played a spoiler for ‘Talaash’. Buzz has it that the basic plot of ‘Talaash’ is a bit similar to Vidya’s film, and hence, Aamir wanted to tweak the climax.

An insider revealed, “The film was almost ready for release as the shooting of the film was complete and even major post production job was done. But it’s a suspense-thriller where the plot of the film is crucial for the film’s success. So when ‘Kahaani’ released, which is also a thriller, it’s storyline seemed kind of similar to ‘Talaash’s’, which is again a story based on the search of a missing person. So, even if the film is different in terms it’s plot, Aamir apparently wants to change the climax, make it crispier and edgier.”

Further adding, the source said, “Being the perfectionist that he is, Aamir is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that his film has something new to offer to his audience. A gap between two films of the same genre is also crucial. If the release time between these films is less, it could adversely affect his film, hence the decision of postponing the film was for the best.”

Salman, Priyanka to rock IPL opening!

The much awaited IPL is back. And with stakes higher, it is going to be one series to look out for. Adding glamour to the opening night would be Bollywood heavyweights like Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan.

While last year Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif rocked the opening night, this year Sallu will take the onus to make the event a grand Bollywood extravaganza along with Priyanka and Big B.

Speaking to a daily an IPL official said, "The fifth edition of the iconic competition will not only promise unprecedented action and on-field entertainment, but will also launch an evening of glitz and glamour as international stars take to the stage on the eve of the first match. The curtain will open at the YMCA College of Physical Education Nandanam in Chennai on 3rd April 2012 to a galaxy of star performances.”

What more! Southern dancing sensation and popular actor and filmmaker Prabhudeva is also going to perform for the fans. The Chennai crowd will also get to see Colonial Cousins perform on stage.

Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, "IPL Opening extravaganza in Chennai and yours truly is a small part of it ...nervous as hell..a small appearance for the show .. April 3rd is the day for the opening. Preparing for it already .. getting back into the grind."

Priyanka Chopra too tweeted, "Ok so what act do u guys suggest I do for the IPL opening ceremony.. Should be so fun!"

Kangana Ranaut To Follow Rekha

Kangna Ranaut, whoplays John Abraham's girlfriend in "Shootout at Wadala", is in awe ofher character in the underworld movie and says it is similar to what SmitaPatil and Rekha did.

"I play John'slove interest. My character is similar to the characters played by Smita Patiland Rekha in the 1970s and 1980s," the 24-year-old said here at a partyorganised for the film. The National Award winning actress, who is working withJohn for the first time, is happy to have got the opportunity.

"John is a fabulous guy. He is very friendly, very sweet and I amsurprised that we have not worked together yet. Now that we have got thisopportunity, we are very happy," said the actress who entered Bollywoodwith the 2006 movie "Gangster - A Love Story".

In six years she hasdone films like "Life...in a Metro", "Once Upon A Time InMumbaai", "Tanu Weds Manu" and "Fashion" that fetchedher a National Award for the best supporting actress. In "Shootout atWadala", John plays gangster Manya Surve who was shot dead by the Mumbaipolice in 1982 and is the first-ever registered encounter, or shootout, byMumbai Police.

Directed by Sanjay Gupta and co-produced by him and Balaji Telefilms,"Shootout at Wadala" also stars Sonu Sood, Manoj Bajpayee, TussharKapoor, Ronit Roy and Mahesh Manjrekar.

Dhanush’s ‘3’ to release on 30th March

Tamil superstar Dhanush’s much awaited film “3” with Shruti Haasan is all set to hit the silver screens on the 30th of March.

Talking about the release of his film, Dhanush tweeted, “After all d hype"3"will release on MARCH 30 th guys.Yes 10 days 4m now.D release will b in tamil n telugu.Hindi vil follow shortly.god bless(sic).”

It is the same film that features the song ‘Kolaveri Di’ that went viral on YouTube and became a youth anthem of sorts.

Katrina Kaif as Big B’s love interest?

Katrina Kaif might have played love interest of many Bollywood heroes in numerous films, but a unique offer has come her way which requires her to play romantic lead opposite Amitabh Bachchan!

The director of films like ‘Patiala House’ and ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, Nikhil Advani wants Kat for a highly unconventional role in his next film ‘Mehrunnisa’, wherein she would be cast opposite the legendary Big B.

Not that Kat’s been unable to prove her mettle in the industry with her acts, but this seems like a real challenge for her.

Reportedly, she has been approached personally by Nikhil to play the role. Going by the revelation made by a source, it has been learnt that she will be required to play the role of a 20-year-old whose journey will be traced right up till she is 60.

Besides playing the love interest of Amitabh Bachchan, Kat would also have to play the role of an older woman.

A source said, “Nikhil is adamant on having Katrina on board. He even flew to London just to be able to narrate the film to her. The final call will be taken when Kat returns to Mumbai.”

Sonam Will Star Opposite Dhanush In "Raanjhanaa"

Intense discussions all of last week between director and actresses have landed Sonam Kapoor a plum role of a student from Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU) who hails from Varanasi.

And now Sonam Kapoor, who plays the title role in Aanand Rai's "Raanjhanaa" would have to play Tamil star Dhanush's object of passionate adoration. As per the script, Dhanush is a local Varanasi boy and Sonam is a Varanasi girl educated in Delhi.

Sonam would now have to spend time on the JNU campus where her character is supposed to be educated, learning the conduct and ideology of students there.

Says a source, "The culture of education at the JNU is radically different from other universities in Delhi and across the country. At JNU students, both male and female, are very politically aware .They talk intelligently on national issues. They dress sensibly, hang out at specific cafes in Delhi, attend seminars and protest actively on national issues. The director Aanand Rai wanted Sonam to imbibe all of these traits. And they also speak fluent Hindi."

When it comes to her spoken Hindi Sonam, according to the source from "Raanjhanaa" needs to work as hard as Dhanush. Dhanush, we hear, is in Mumbai sitting on the dubbing of the Hindi version of his wife's film 3 with a Hindi coach, trying to get the rashtra bhasha right.

For Sonam too it's been decided the accented Hindi and the haute-couture look just won't do. The actress would have to spend time on the JNU campus. And she will work on her language, clothes and appearance.

"But Sonam is not quite the Varanasi girl. She is a local girl who has been to college in Delhi for three years, and returned to her home-town quite the sophisticated small-towner who's acquired a metropolitan air," says a source close to the project.

The director was not sure Sonam could carry off the role .After meeting Sonam, Aanand Rai is convinced. Says the director, "I am bowled over by her commitme nt to getting the nuances of the role right. I've found my lady."

John Is Again Injured On Sets Of SHOOTOUT AT WADALA

John is having tough times shooting "Shootout At Wadala' as he is now injured second time while shooting for a fight sequence.

Just few weeks back, John Abraham had injured his nose while shooting for Sanjay Gupta's "Shootout At Wadala", and the film has hit another setback as John injured himself yet again while shooting for another action sequence.

John was shooting a prison fight sequence with Chetan Hansraj which involved him somersaulting over the latter's shoulders. It was during this sequence that John pulled a hamstring, but being the thorough professional the actor managed the pain with sprays and pain killers and returned to shooting the next day.

However, due to the stress and the already sore hamstring, John ended up tearing a ligament and developing a hairline fracture on his foot. The doctors treating him have since advised John complete bed rest for the next six days.

An open letter to Saif Ali Khan

Dear Nawab Sa’ab,
I would like to begin with a request. I write in peace. Please do not break my nose after reading this letter. I am aware such a request does not augur well for a correspondence, yet I insist you grant me this small wish before getting on with the rest of the letter. Unnatural. That’s what I thought when I first heard about what had happened at the Taj Colaba with you the other night. I mean can you believe it? Is this for real? Nawab sa’ab, for a few minutes I felt I was transported to a different country, a country with a constitution, a real government with a real police force full of real anally retentive gems.
Frankly, sir, I don’t care who started the fight or which one of you is right. It is not important in my opinion because a brawl is a very natural phenomenon. Agreed, fighting in a five-star hotel is typical Delhi behaviour but still it isn’t unnatural, is it? Talking loudly at a table of 10 isn’t unnatural either and getting annoyed dining near a loud table of 10 is often as normal as getting your nose punched.
You know what is abnormal Nawab sa’ab? The police actually filed an FIR. I can say this because though I am not famous like you, I don’t exactly like to go out and have my cocktail dinner in a library, if you know what I mean, and very often I find myself in situations where instead of trying to figure out who asked whom to grow up and who behaved like an idiot and got what he deserved, the police simply beats up both parties.

Nawab Sa’ab, instead of dividing the people of the country into rich and poor, weak and strong, those that have grown up and those that have not, I think you may like to consider the world as essentially comprising two sets of people: those who can file an FIR and those who cannot.
In an ideal society, a man with a broken nose should rush to a hospital and the police should meet him there, or if the bleeding isn’t so severe, the man should rush to the police station and get the cops to take him to the hospital, or a man with a broken nose should be rescued by the police and then taken to the hospital. In India, a man with a broken nose goes to the hospital and then goes home or, if the bleeding isn’t so severe, goes home straight from the spot of the incident.
Did you file an FIR 18 years ago when the son of the then Delhi Police commissioner thrashed you in full public view for allegedly making a pass at his girlfriend in a nightclub? I was 13 years old. My mother was very upset. She was, and still is, a big fan of your mother and for a long time after you made your debut, she refused to believe you were not a girl. When I was 15, and loved you to bits in Main Khiladi Tu Anari, my friends thought I had a boy crush on you. Obviously, you and the Delhi police commissioner and his son were all equal before the law, why then did you not file a complaint? Perhaps, like Shirish Kunder and me, you too have immense faith in Roman Polanski and no one knows better than you that what happens in Chinatown stays in Chinatown. Today, I am 31 but unfortunately I don’t think I have matured or grown up in your sense of the word. But I will grow up. I have hope in you. At 41, you are the bravest teenager I know.
You know what I think Nawab Sa’ab? I think this county is transforming itself into a no-country-for-ageing teenagers. I know what it feels like because I am an ageing teenager. Just think about it: Here you are, a brilliant chartered accountant or a businessman or a financial analyst with flashy teeth, basically a nobody, sitting with your boring wife and your stupid children having dinner at an expensive diner, tearing into the most expensive flesh money can buy wondering when you will financially evolve enough to be able to buy a decent conversation at a bar when a loud stream of consciousness, drunken perhaps, stabs the anxious joyless silence on your table, and, makes you aware for the first time that evening that at the helm of the next table occupied by as many as 10 people, sits your favourite celebrity.
What do you think will happen next, Nawab Sa’ab?

Poonam Pandey goes gaga over Virat Kohli!

Virat Kohli, the anchor man who helped India to a stunning victory over Pakistan, has been garnering accolades from all corners.

Christened the ‘rockstar’ of Team India, Virat seems to have become the cynosure of arguably ‘The sexiest fan of Indian cricket’ – Poonam Pandey!

If anything that can be inferred from the tweet she posted last night after India won the match – “Wow whatta match muwaaaaah luv u virattttt”, - Poonam almost gave a full blown kiss to the Delhi lad.

Showering Virat with praises, Poonam wrote, “Very well played Kohli! massive applauds to your spirit! You done us proud today and we will always remember this special innings.”

Gaga over Kohli, Poonam expressed, “yay! yay! yay!...Kohli is a gem..pakistan waalo bura na maano kohli hai.”

`3` gets U certificate, Dhanush happy

Southern star Dhanush is happy to know that his wife Aishwarya`s directorial debut `3`, in which he plays the male lead, has got an U-certificate from the censor board.

"Very happy to announce that `3` has been certified as `U`. Will announce the release date day after. God bless," the 28-year-old tweeted.

Dhanush, a known name in the Tamil movie industry, garnered overnight popularity globally when his song "Kolaveri di" hit the YouTube.

Dhanush has teamed up with Shruti Haasan in the film.

"We are trying for a March end or April 1st week release for `3`. Will confirm soon," he added.

First look of Sunny Deol in “Bhaiyyaji Superhitt”

In an exclusive, the first look of Sunny Deol in "Bhaiyyaji Superhitt" stands unveiled.

The film is backed by Fauzia Arshi's and Santosh Bhartiya's Daily Multimedia Limited, a concern of an over six-decade-old corporate house based in India. Interestingly, this is for the first time that Deol essays a double role as an actor in a career spanning over two decades.

An excited Deol said, "I always wanted to do a double role and when this offer came my way, I could not let it go. What makes it interesting is that both roles are poles apart. It's a challenge for me; I'm sure the film will enthrall the audience."

About the typical bhaiyya look, Deol said, "I play this UP-based don. That's why he is called bhaiyyaji. There were several sketches that the creative team came up with, but this one fit the bill perfectly. So we just went ahead with it. But it is not only my look - all the characters in the film have an interesting get-up. Plus, we also have Vijayan, who is an ace action director. I am glad to be a part of this film." Producer Fauzia said, "Sunny was all charged up about playing the double role. I'd credit my director Neerraj Pathak, who convinced not only Sunny, but also the other artistes."

She added, "What makes my film stand apart is that it is not a nonsensical comedy. There's a social message in it. Through the story, there's something to learn. And though we have other projects in the offing, to make an action-comedy film was our priority. We are proud to be associated with it."

Clarifying on why their debut venture took time to take off, Fauziya explained, "We did not want to start anything in haste and make a mess. We started shooting only when we were absolutely sure of what we wanted."

Besides Sunny, "Bhaiyyaji Superhitt" also stars Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and Prakash Raj. There is also Ameesha Patel, who's been paired with Sunny Deol. "We will soon pencil in three more heroines, out of which one will be a newcomer," Fauzia said.
