Movie Review:
On their first date, Siva (Prince) and Gayatri (Nandita) plan on going to a movie, but end up making love, multiple times on a window shade in the dead of the night instead. The act however, isn't as risque as the idea, but still it's a first in Tollywood nevertheless. A few weeks on, Gayatri gets pregnant and all hell breaks loose. Well, not quite.
Here's a bit of a backgrounder to put the plot in perspective. " Neeku Naaku Dash Dash" is a greasy love story that runs in the backdrop of the deadly illicit liquor mafia. Siva and Nandita are two of the many teenagers who are picked up from debt ridden families to work as bonded labor for the Rs 470 million (as shown in the movie) illicit liquor brewing business run by the vicious-looking baddie, Bapineedu. A horde of corrupt politicians, bureaucrats and police officers are also involved in the nexus (it is revealed at the beginning of the movie).

An unlikely romance blooms between Siva and Nandita. Nandita bullies Siva into falling in love with her in the midst of brewing and repackaging illicit liquor in a shady facility. The two are forced to run for their lives as the baddies find out about their romance. They elope with two air bags full of money much to the dismay of Bapineedu, who goes after them with all his henchmen in tow. We'll leave the rest to your imagination.

Nandita has the author-backed role and she delivers a quirky performance. The debutante has some screen presence and holds a lot of promise. Prince, on the other hand, reminds us of Mahesh Babu in some profile shots. Though not as expressive as his co-star he puts in a decent performance. There are too many characters that come and go and their performances don't really register in the clutter. Suman Shetty provides some comic relief with his histrionics, but the humor borders on the boy's hostel variety and might not go down too well with all.

Shot on Red Epic camera, the movie has a very gritty look to it. The characters wear no make up at all, everything looks a little too greasy and the dull color palette gives it a very raw feel.

One gets the feeling that director Teja tried to do a little too much with the movie, loading the narrative with multiple emotions all through. It comes off only in bits and the average music score doesn't help matters either. Guess it will go down as one of those experiments that could not be pulled off.
